Dove Cameron and Måneskin’s Damiano David have announced their engagement.

On Saturday (January 3), the Disney Channel alum announced on social media that she is engaged to fellow musician David after two years of dating.

“My favourite part of being alive … happy new year,” she captioned a carousel of pictures of the two on Instagram. David shared the same photos, which show Cameron beaming as she shows off her engagement ring to the camera, and captioned his: “It’s gonna be a beautiful year.”

It follows the pair celebrating their two-year anniversary in early October. “The 2 best years of my life,” the ‘Boyfriend’ singer wrote on social media at the time. “I am brought to tears at least once a week because life has become so beautiful with you in it.

“I love you in a way no words could ever express, but i will never stop trying. buon anniversario amore mio.”

They first met at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, having both been nominated for Best New Artist, and later crossed paths at the same event the next year, after which David invited her to see Måneskin play a concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

“It was very, very slow, cautious, feeling-out, interview-type questions for eight hours,” Cameron told Cosmopolitan of the early days of their relationship, “before it was finally like, ‘OK, are we holding hands now?’”

We sat down with David last year to discuss his debut solo album ‘Funny Little Fears’, and he told us he was in a “much happier, aware place” in his personal life.

“Sometimes, certain feelings come back, but now I have the tools to recognise them and place them in parts of my brain. But I truly hope to keep struggling in my life, because it means that I’m moved by something, I’m passionate. It’s a constant process of trying to better ourselves, and it’s OK if we sometimes struggle.”

He also touched on life with Cameron in Los Angeles, saying it felt like home to go back there. “Even in Rome, I was staying in apartments,” he explained. “I lived out of suitcases in the last five years. My [LA] apartment is the first place where I’ve actually opened the suitcases. I’m buying furniture, it’s starting to look like my house. I live there with my partner [Dove Cameron].”
