TRANSLATOR SALES

Colorado – Ron Johnson’s Educational Communications of Colorado Springs has filed a $40,000 deal to buy the Golden, CO-licensed translator K214FJ at 90.7 FM from Vic Michael’s Cedar Cove Broadcasting. It will become the latest Colorado translator to relay programming from contemporary Christian “The Light” KTLF, Colorado Springs. As part of the deal, Educational Communications of Colorado Springs will also hand over the Fort Collins, CO-licensed translator K237CY at 95.3 FM to Cedar Cove Broadcasting for no additional payment. Michael plans to relay variety KRKU (89.3) from the Cheyenne, WY market on the translator.

Alaska – Alaska Village Ministries has filed a $15,000 deal to buy the Seward-Woodrow, AK-licensed translator K236CC at 95.1 FM from Gary Rose’s Turquoise Broadcasting. As part of the deal, Rose will also make a tax deductible $5,000 donation back to AVM after the sale closes. The translator will be relocated to Ninilchik, AK and move to 95.3 FM. It will air the Moody Radio religious network once the sale closes.

CLOSINGS

Tennessee & Kentucky – Michael and Laura Harris’ Shoreline Communications has closed a $925,000 deal to buy classic rock WEKX, Jellico, TN (102.7) and “EZ Country 104.3” WEZJ, Williamsburg, KY from Whitley Broadcasting Co. The proposed acquisition does not create overlap with Shoreline’s four stations in central Kentucky. Whitley will exit ownership with the sale. Broker: Henson Media

Vermont – Jared Goodell’s Community Media has closed a $500,000 deal to buy hot AC “Magic 96.7” WTSA-FM (96.7) and country WTSA (1450) in Brattleboro VT from Kelli Corbeil’s Four Seasons Media. The deal also includes the Brattleboro, VT-licensed translator W258DQ at 99.5 FM, which simulcasts the AM. Under the terms of the deal, Corbeil will remain GM for a year after closing and will be paid a $100,000 salary. The former bank manager has owned the stations since 2007 and has been the GM since 2009 following the death of her husband, Bill Corbeil. Buyer Jared Goodell doesn’t own any other stations, but he formerly worked on-air in the Brattleboro-Keene market for Saga Communications. He’s currently the President of Titon Marketing in Boston.

Oklahoma – Darrel Dye and Bill Coleman’s Team Radio Marketing Group has closed a $450,000 deal to buy country “104.7 The Bull” KQSN and news-talk WBBZ (1230) in Ponca City, OK from Zoe Bowling’s Sterling Broadcasting. The sale price includes $5,000 for a trailer with a “Santa House” on it. The contract also includes a four-year noncompete. Team Radio Marketing Group already owns five other stations in the area, including “101 Country” KPNC, classic hits KLOR-FM (99.3) and sports “Triple Play Sports Radio” KOSB/KOKP/KOKB (105.1/1020/1580).

Indiana – Erica and Christopher Ruth’s Pivotal Opportunities has closed a $385,000 deal to buy country “Q-100” WFLQ, French Lick, IN from W.G. Willis’ Willtronics Broadcasting. Buyer Pivotal Opportunities doesn’t own any other stations. Once the sale closes, Willtronics Broadcasting exits ownership.

Providence-Warwick-Pawtucket, RI – Kurt Jackson’s Island Broadcasting has closed a $350,000 deal to buy CHR “Mixx 99.3” WMNP and “News Talk 1540” WADK from 3G Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Newport, RI-licensed translator W266DI AT 101.1 FM which simulcasts WADK. The filing shows the sale includes a $315,000 promissory note.

Morgantown-Clarksburg-Fairmont, WV – Greg Bolyard has closed a $250,000 deal to buy classic hits “Good Time Oldies 107.7” WFSP-FM and talk WFSP (1560) from Linda Westbrook. Bolyard already owns “K-Country 96.7” WKMM in the market.

Montana – Hi-Line Radio Fellowship has closed a $30,000 deal to buy KTNY, Libby, MT from Duane Williams’ Lincoln County Broadcasters. KTNY is currently off the air. Hi-Line Radio Fellowship owns 28 religious stations in Montana already, plus additional translators, but none overlaps with KTNY.

Huntsville, AL – Joshua Bohn’s Signal Mountain Broadcasting has closed a $20,000 deal to buy WYAM (890) and the low-power TV station WYAM-LD from Suzie Wiley’s Decatur Communications Properties. Bohn’s MKRadio1 currently owns regional Mexican “La Raza” WIEZ (1490) and an FM translator in the market.

Montana – Roger Lonnquist’s Northwest Capital has closed a $10,000 deal to by KLCB, Libby, MT (1230) from Duane Williams’ Lincoln County Broadcasters. KLCB is currently off the air. Northwest Capital currently owns an AM in Utah and several television stations in Montana.
