UC San Diego and Audacy’s “97.3 The Fan” KWFN have partnered to bring Tritons men’s and women’s basketball to San Diego-area listeners, with the station set to air more than a dozen games for the remainder of the 2025–26 season.

Under the multi-year agreement, “97.3 The Fan” becomes the exclusive over-the-air radio home of UC San Diego basketball, with all game broadcasts also available via the free Audacy app. Play-by-play veterans Steve Quis and Ted Mendenhall will call the action, while recent UC San Diego graduate Madison Baxter will provide analysis for women’s game coverage.

“We are thrilled to partner with Audacy and 97.3 The Fan to air Tritons basketball games throughout San Diego for the remainder of this season and beyond,” said UC San Diego Athletics Director Andy Fee. “Our teams play a fun brand of basketball the entire San Diego community can get behind, and we can’t wait to showcase Tritons basketball on San Diego’s number one sports station.”

The 2025–26 broadcast schedule includes coverage of all remaining Big West men’s road games, along with two UC San Diego women’s regular-season contests. The station will also serve as the radio home for Tritons postseason play, carrying both teams’ title defenses from The Big West Championship in March in Henderson, NV.

“We are proud to establish this landmark partnership with UC San Diego, marking the first time 97.3 The Fan will serve as the exclusive broadcast home for Tritons basketball,” said Brand Manager Adam Klug. “This collaboration reinforces our commitment to being the city’s premier destination for live and local sports.”

Last season, UC San Diego became the first program in NCAA Division I history to win conference titles and reach the NCAA Tournament in its first season with postseason eligibility. Both the men’s and women’s teams opened the current Big West schedule at 1–0, with conference play resuming in January.

The first Tritons broadcast on “97.3 The Fan” is scheduled for Thursday night (Jan. 1), when the UC San Diego men’s team travels to Cal Poly. Pregame coverage begins at 6:52pm (PT), with tipoff set for shortly after 7pm from San Luis Obispo.
